Sand

Mobile phones, computers, and cars all require sand. An element that covers our earth is the key to technology, and is the main structural component in a number of construction products including glass, flooring, cement, asphalt, and other industrial materials. The recent shortage in semi-conductors and the corresponding increase in their manufacturers' prices got us wondering about the basic component at the heart of it all.
